10 A.M. - 12 P.M.

Common Ground - Ocean Springs, MS

The Tile Parlour creates belonging through mahjong, bringing new and experienced players together around the same table. Through social play and thoughtfully hosted events with local businesses and community partners, we create a place for people to gather, learn, and play–all while honoring the history and traditions of the game. More than mahjong, we’re creating a new ritual, community, and table people can’t wait to come back to.

Our Story

Sometimes community begins with something as simple as sitting down at a new table.

After moving from the East Coast to Mississippi—and losing many of our belongings when our moving truck caught on fire—I found myself searching for connection. Discovering an opportunity to learn mahjong in Ocean Springs gave me exactly that: a seat at the table, new friendships, and the first real feeling that Mississippi could become home.

That was the beginning of The Tile Parlour.

The inspiration reaches back to one of the places I loved most in our old home: the New York speakeasy. Whether hidden behind an old-fashioned phone booth inside a hot dog shop or down a staircase you wouldn’t look at twice. And once you stepped through the door, they transformed. A boarded up storefront opened up into a place to escape the weather, try a new drink, and laugh with friends old and new.

The Tile Parlour will create that same feeling here in Ocean Springs: a place that feels special when you walk through the door, and comfortable once you sit down. A place where people come to play mahjong, but stay for the conversation, the friendships, and the ritual of having somewhere they belong.

Come for the tiles, stay for the company.
